For me the most noticeable improvement is to the amount of traction I’m getting on technical climbs. I’m just in a better position on the bike, and able to transfer more power to the ground without losing traction. I’m now clearing technical sections that had me stumped for years.
Super well built, feels solid when clicking into position. Not cheap, but not that expensive compared to other upgrades, given the very noticeable improvements it provides to the riding experience. Get one if you can!
It’s one of those rare times when you have a “why didn’t someone do this ages ago”. Similar to using a dropper post for the first time. It doesn’t make combing easy per se, but easier for sure. It rotates my hips into a better position and I can use my weight as leverage more effectively. I’m not as sore or spent at the top of the Cook Creek climb where I ride frequently. I was on the fence for quite a while but in the end I figured for the price of a couple tires it was worth a try, glad I did. You hear the cliche ‘game changer’ a lot, this is one of those rare instances these days where the reality meets the promise. If I was to give it one critique, I would wish for the lever to be maybe 10mm longer, but that’s really it. It does everything they say.
Installation and set up are just as easy as installing a new seat. My first test of the SwitchGrade was a 7 day bike trip to Vancouver Island and it does exactly what they say it does. The forward title position makes long climbs wat more comfortable and it was nice to be able to get the back of the seat out of the way for the steeper descents.
Highly recommended if you do extended climbs to get to the good stuff!!
